In this episode, we meet with a true product developer. Fortunately for us, his cousin introduced him to telemark. The first thing he realized, the bindings on the market where not the sport’s greatest assets. Discover the Meidjo, the new binding that is a cross over between NTN and TTS.

Wow. Excellent interview with Pierre. Can’t wait to test the Meidjo binding. It’s looks like a great improvement over all the other NTN bindings. With 2 sets of springs, one expecially designed to adjust the lateral releasability and the other set to maintain the boot in the binding, this new binding will certainly create a revolution in the ski industry. Bravo to Pierre for his involvement in the telemark industry.
Can’t wait to try the Meidjo!!!!!
Great interview! The binding looks impressive. I ski the 22 Designs Hammerhead binding. The thing that I love about this binding is the way it keeps the front portion of my foot close to the ski. The bellows of the boot are engaged very early ensuring a very natural feel. When standing in the telemark position on the floor (without shoes), the ball of your trailing foot stays in contact with the floor. It feels unnatural to lift your foot so that only your toe is touching. What concerns me about the use of the LowTech mounting is that the foot appears to pivot farther forward at the toe. I would personally love to see the 5 hole adjustability of the Hammerhead combined with the advantages of Meidjo binding.
Great point. I also love the Hammerhead and skied it many years. I liked position 4 the best. Very active but not killer like the 5.
Pierre showed me via Skype that the Low Tech was made especially for the Telemark boot bellows, he rose the Low Tech pins and made them beefier. The spring is also beefier and you can hear the snap quite loud almost like a ski binding. As for how active the system is, I heard from my friend Frank who actually tried it that it was up there with the NTN, No mention of other 75mm bindings.
As you can see, It’s a challenge for Pierre to express all the details of his binding in English but we chatted in French for almost another 30 minutes after the interview. He did put a lot of emphasis on the n75mm feeling, and in his cousin mind, it really was something important from the start.
All advancements in this area of the sport are exciting. Pierre is clearly very passionate about this new binding and that can only lead to good things. I am very much looking forward to learning more about the Meidjo.
P.S. What was the name of the mountain/resort that he named as his favorite place to ski?
Wouldn’t the pivot not be affected by the tech toe and just be affected by the bellows of the boot?
No it’s not. It’s 100% free past 90 degrees so it’s plenty.
It’s call La Grave / La Meije
